Local Beauty Events Matter: A Reno Beauty Supply Perspective
Recently, I had the honor of attending the Reno Beauty Ball, an incredible evening dedicated to bringing beauty professionals together for learning, networking, and fun. Hosted by Amanda Kunde and Ava Marsh, this event is growing every year and it’s easy to see why. With interactive learning sessions, raffles, giveaways, and a delicious dinner and dessert buffet, the evening was all about celebrating the greater Reno beauty industry and the amazing artists in it.
I was so grateful to be asked as one of the guest speakers to represent PLA alongside a well known local nail salon owner, Riley. We both shared our expertise and impactful insights with a room full of beauty professionals from all over Northern Nevada. There were tons of great conversations about the industry and many attendees left feeling inspired to host their own micro-events and collaborations, which was so exciting to see.
PLA also had the opportunity to donate starter kits from our lash, nails, and wax lines from our local beauty supply store, which we gifted to brave artists who engaged with my talk and stepped up to network with new beauty besties. It was a fun and rewarding experience, but the most fulfilling part was watching connections form and ideas spark throughout the night.
Why Beauty Events Like This Matter
What made the Reno Beauty Ball so special wasn’t just the giveaways or the speeches, it was the community that Amanda and Ava are building. These two incredible young ladies are working to uplift the Northern Nevada beauty scene by empowering artists with education and connections. This was one of those beauty conferences that was a perfect mix of “all fun, no work,” yet it still sparked serious creativity and collaboration among the diverse group of talented attendees.
Events like this have an infectious effect on the local beauty supply and local beauty industries in general. Not only do they inspire professionals to collaborate on things like promotions, social media content and local charities, but they also give small businesses a chance to connect in big ways. Artists who might have never crossed paths are suddenly brainstorming ways to help each other grow. This kind of unity is invaluable, both for personal growth and for the industry as a whole.
How You Can Do The Same
The Reno Beauty Ball is a shining example of how powerful local nail events and lash conferences can be. This is something beauty professionals everywhere should consider organizing in their own communities. While we know bigger events like The Lash Conference, International Beauty Show and CosmoProf are great in their own ways, micro-events with a handful of professionals can be just as impactful. The key is to foster a sense of connection and create opportunities for growth, whether it’s through education, collaboration or just a shared love for the industry.
By hosting events with local beauty supply stores and business owners, you’ll not only build stronger relationships within your community but also create an incredible platform for deserving artists. Whether it’s partnering in a venture, collaborating on social media content or even giving back to local causes, these events can make a lasting difference in your company and community.
I know we are so inspired by our local 775 beauty bosses! If you are too, this is your sign to start planning an event of your own! Start small if you don’t have it all figured out yet, I used to host mixers inside of my 1,000-square-foot salon in my hometown and incredible opportunities sparked from even the most intimate groups.
You are destined to make a difference and PLA is here to encourage you along the way!
xoxo
