How to Clean Your Client's Eyelashes with a Lash Bath

Believe it or not, cleaning your clients eyelashes before application plays a big role in the longevity of your clients lash extensions.

When your client walks through your door ready to get their lashes, this should be the first step you take. As you know our lashes serve as the first line of defense when it comes to protecting our eyes. So that means lashes hold all the build up of airborne debris, oils, and or makeup.

Not to mention your eyelids are probably the most oily area on your body, and where does that oil go? Yep you guessed it, right into your lash line, and if not cleansed properly on a daily basis can cause bacteria growth, which leads to irritation, and potentially an infection.

Imagine trying to apply lash extensions on top of all of that. Yeah we know… DISGUSTING.

How to Clean Your Clients Eyelashes with a Lash Bath

Okay this seems like it would be pretty self explanatory, but more often than not we see cleansing done wrong. First let’s talk about the items you need.

Once you have gathered all your items necessary for your clients lash bath let's get started.

Step 1: Place paper towel (or tissue) folded up on lash bed next to clients head

Step 2: Give your lash cleanser a few shakes, then dispense about two pumps onto the paper towel/ and or tissue.

Step 3: Using the disposable lip brush apply the cleanser to clients lashes in a downward motion making sure to get all the lashes, and don’t forget the eyelid too. (PLA TIP: We highly recommend staying away from the lash brushes like you see here, These are great for at home use for your clients but in the salon they are not as cost efficient with having to dispose after each use. There is no way to properly cleanse the bristles and reuse from client to client. The disposable lip brushes are very cost efficient, and work great.)

Step 4: Next using your wash bottle and folded paper towel/ tissue it’s time to rinse. Fold the paper towel/ tissue into fourths, and place on the side of your clients face. Gently tilt your clients head so that the water will run away from her eye and get caught by the paper towel. Warn your client that the water is coming then dispense small amounts of water at a time until their lashes are completely rinsed. Then gently blot excess water away.

Step 5: Repeat steps 3 & 4 on the opposite eye.

Step 6: Using your eyelash brush and portable lash fan it's time to dry those lashes.

How to Educate Your Client

Okay this is the hard part, right?

You just spent all this time on a BEAUTIFUL lash set for your client, now they leave and it’s now in your CLIENT’S hands to take care of them. YIKES!

It’s your job as a lash artist to educate and inform your clients. Eyelash extensions are an investment, it is important that clients know how to take care of them properly.

Clients play a major role in their retention, educating your clients on how to properly clean their eyelashes everyday is huge. But of course, lash baths look a little different when the client goes home, they obviously don’t have you there to handle it.

How to Clean Your Eyelashes with a Lash Bath at Home

Encourage clients to purchase the following items, Paris Lash Academy Sterile Cleanser, Wash Bottle, Lash Shampoo Brushes and Portable Lash Fan. Other than these three items they should already have their Eyelash Brush from their appointment and just a hand towel at home.

It’s pretty important to go over how to clean eyelashes with your clients because when they receive one from you, their eyes are closed and they have no idea what you are doing.

Step 1: Pump one full pump of cleanser to your eyelid with the eye closed.

Step 2: Using your Lash Shampoo Brush, gently cleanse lashes in a downward motion.

Step 3: Taking your Wash Bottle, tilt your head and rinse until all cleanser has been removed.

Step 4: Blot lashes dry, DO NOT WIPE OR RUB

Step 5: Repeat all steps for second eye

Step 6: Brush while fanning lashes
